Life has taught me that nothing is forever except for love.
I lost my husband to a tragic car accident two years ago. Since then, I've floated through life. The only thing keeping me going is my faith in a higher power. I prayed for answers and release from my grief. One warm autumn day the Lord delivered in the form of Tex, a NASCAR driver looking for a quiet small town to settle down in.
I resisted Tex's advances, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. Just when I was warming up to the idea of a new life with Tex, life through me a curveball.
Questions about my husband's death left me reeling. The more I discovered the more convinced I became that I didn't really know him at all.
Through the power of God, love, faith and redemption I will figure out how to mend my broken heart, even if it kills me.

Shelby’s husband had died in a fiery fire crash two years ago, and she’s having a hard time moving on. She prefers to idolize him and stay married to a memory. When a famous NASCAR driver comes to town, the pastor asks her to show him around. She had no idea that he would be so gorgeous or take her down roads she never planned to go.First person point of view is not my favorite, and Shelby wasn’t as likable as John. It would have been nice to have some told from his point of view. It’s poor writing to use omniscient point of view while in someone’s thoughts - “Little did I know that my life was about to change.” In addition, in this Christian novella, God’s name is taken in vain 3 times and mild profanity is used 9 other times. “John” was used when “Paul” should have been once, and “alright” was used for “all right” several times. “Hangars” (for airplanes) was also used for clothes hangers. These were minor errors, however. The inconsistencies bothered me more:
- Shelby continued to wear sundresses and sandals while going out into the snow and cold
- John got into a fight and his broken shoulder and the operation he’d recently had on it didn’t slow him down and wasn’t mentioned
- Shelby saw John cooking breakfast without his shirt, but there was no mention of the burn scars he’d received in his accident on the track
- I thought it a little strange that John fixed both pancakes and biscuits for breakfast, but it wasn’t explained in any way
- Shelby, a committed Christian, stole a stack of newspapers and thought nothing about it
- Shelby hoped Paul would be forgiven when he approached the throne of God after his death
- A medical examiner could tell a man from a woman by the bone structure even if the body was burned beyond recognition, and people can be identified by their dental work, so part of the plot didn’t make sense
- The cover doesn’t even go with the book, since it was winter the whole time until the very end
I liked parts of the story, but in the end I felt it had too many weak areas to rate it more than okay.

Second Chances Falling for the NASCAR Driver A Contemporary Christian Mystery Romance edition by Riley Free Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I loved the story. There were a few typos, but I did not let that interfere with the reading. Is there a continuation of this story, does Paul come back causing her restless again? If there isn't, it would be nice to have a continuation of this story. I would definitely read it.
First book I ever quit reading when Paul first showed up. Her reaction was just too stupid.
The book was interesting and well written except for the staged death of the husband. That event seemed out of place, too convenient.
The book started off with promise but soon turned into a very bad movie. It wasn't awful, but the author could stand to improve her writing skills. If the book had been any longer I would have bailed without a second thought.
The plot was good in this book, but it was written poorly. Sometimes a word was obviously left out or the wrong word was used.
This was a great book to relax to. I just think it should have been longer. I wish the author chose to do more with their friendship and courtship before her husband shows up after faking his death.
This book is terrible. The plot is totally unbelievable. The ending is also biblically incorrect. I can't believe I wasted my time reading this.
